A Christmas Carol
Author: Charles Dickens
Genre: Ghost story (but it’s not frightening)
Characters: The main character’s name is Scrooge. He is an old man, rich and alone. He doesn’t like to celebrate Christmas. But a meeting will change his life...
Story:
There are five chapters in this book:
1 – Scrooge
2 – The first spirit
3 – The second spirit
4 – The third spirit
5 – Christmas Day
Scrooge is an old, rich, and lonely man. He doesn’t like celebrating Christmas.
He is confronted with a spirit on the night before Christmas. It’s the ‘ghost’ (spirit) of his old friend Marley, who died 7 years ago.
For the first time in his life, he is frightened and listens to the spirit. During the night, three spirits will appear.
The first spirit shows him Christmas in his past, when Scrooge was a boy, the second is the spirit of his present, and the third one takes Scrooge to his grave. After this event, he will become happy, nice, he will celebrate Christmas and help others and his family.
My Opinion:
I don’t like this story because it’s not very interesting, but it’s very easy to read and very short!! It’s a beautiful lesson on life, a moral about money.

Title: A Christmas Carol
Opinion: The story of this book is not really interesting but it allowed me to like reading a book in English because my level is not very good. I understood the story and it is the main thing.
The text is very easy to read because the words are rather simple and the sentences are short. This book is for young people in school.
Otherwise this ghost story was too childish for me. This book allowed me to progress in English because I learnt new words which can serve me later and the next time I could try to read a harder book with some chance of being able to understand everything.
