Author: Phillip Prowse
Genre: Thriller
Characters: Monika Lundgren is an SMI agent
Blom is Monika’s boss
Cabinda is a passport officer in Maputo
James Chapman is an MI5 agent
Carlson is the Swedish Minister
Vitjord is a terrorist
Millham United is an English football team
Story:
The story takes place in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Britain, South Africa, and Mozambique.
Monika Lundgren is at a water festival and she watches some planes, suddenly a football fan says ‘Give me a kiss’ so she hits him. The fan leaves the festival by boat and a few moments after, she hears a metallic noise. She comes back to Blom’s office and she learns that the Minister has been shot, but we don’t know how. She holds an enquiry about this shooting. She goes on a ferry to spy on Millham United. Afterwards, she finds a crossbolt with James Chapman. Now she knows how they shot Carlson. She goes to Millham United’s stadium and in the carpark she sees Chapman who is speaking with some terrorists. One of these men is Vitjord. Monika explains to Blom what she has seen and she goes to South Africa to spy on Vitjord. Vitjord has lunch with her and Monika leaves him with Vitjord’s Mercedes so he wants to kill her. Monika goes to Maputo where she meets Cabinda. Cabinda saves Monika from Vitjord’s men. Afterwards she come back to SMI and she listens to a cassette which says it was Vitjord who wanted to kill Carlson and Vitjord as a nuclear weapon. Monika knows the story and she ends up in hospital and she thanks Cabinda and his wife for everything they have done for her.
My Opinion:
I like this book because I like thrillers and police stories. It’s difficult to read because of the vocabulary and the verbs in the past tense.

Title: Double Cross
Author: Phillip Prowse
Genre: Thriller
My Opinion: For me Double Cross is a captivating story. I love this story because there is a lot of action (for example with the murder), and there are a lot of characters: Monika Lundgren is an SAI agent, Blom is Monika’s boss, Cabina is a passport officer in Maputo, and Vitjord is a terrorist... And the story takes place in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Britain, South Africa, and Mozambique; it makes for a more interesting story. I love this book because I find the characters very audacious for example, Monika or Cabina. The story is realistic with terrorists and a nuclear weapon. There is a lot of suspense and tension which makes for a very captivating story. Monika leaves for South Africa, it is an adventure. It’s also a discovery for the reader, it’s a great moment in the book.
To conclude, I love this story, because it’s captivating, with the discovery of many countries, but also with ambitious characters. It is a novel of adventure, but it is realistic.
